Ja Rajeem is one half of the Philly-based production duo Phreman along with the Late-GREAT Dr. Air Smooth. Ja Rajeem is a music producer, audio engineer and educator. Ja Rajeem is also the co-founder of the Phremen Audio Studio Academy with Dr. Air Smooth aka Dr. Shawn L White, which is a youth mentoring program that connects with inner city youth through project based digital media production and personal development.
Ja Rajeem began making music in 1989 while as a teenager in Springfield Massachusetts. He was introduced to Hip Hop through his cousin and mentor Brad Burnett and music production through Dennis "Double D" Matlock and family friend Kevin Holt who operated a sound system rental business and live recording studio. In High School he joined the rap group called The School of Hard Knocks with Dj Mars, Roddy Rod, Bloody Phil and Sam Singleton.
In College he met Cheyney University classmate Supreme 7.5 the Black Pope and founded the group Dark Alliance. Dark Alliance released a string of underground CD's and mixtapes between 1996 and 2003. In 2006 Ja Rajeem met Air Smooth and formed Phreman Productions producing and releasing projects for Blessa "Man on Fire", Face Off "Independence Day", Bobi Lei, SUNWUN and Ashley Monet, while providing production for artists such as Malik B (The Roots), Chief Kamachi, Cee Knowledge (Digable Planets), Mic Check (Dungeon Family), Lif Bux, Yung Brezzy and others.
